1. Minutes of AGM 24th November 2009: The minutes of last year’s AGM were approved and signed.
2.Chairman’s report
“We can look back at a very successful year, with excellent fundraising events that have replenished the committee’s coffers and gave much
fun to many people. The Fayre weekend was probably the hottest of the summer, which led to a truly great carnival atmosphere and an utterly
exhausted organising team. I thank you all for the tremendous effort that went into the whole year’s events.
I myself felt I needed a rest from the chairmanship and I therefore informed the team at the August meeting that I would stand down from the
chair at the AGM. However, given the very important issues that have to be debated and the decisions to be made, the Anderton & Rowland
proposals in particular, I have since felt that I would be failing somewhat in my duty if I gave up the chair at this time. This is not to
say that there are no others who could chair the committee equally as well or better than I, and indeed someone else will have to sooner or
later!
I therefore offer myself for re-election to the chair, if nominated. If elected I would seek the committee’s support in creating the position of a vice chair and filling that position under item 5, nomination and election of officers. I would also like to take a look at members’ roles for the coming year, which I propose to also do under item 5.
Once again, I wish to place on record my sincere thanks to office holders and members of the committee for the unstinting time and effort
that they have put in during the past year.”
3.Treasurer’s report
Claire Goodwin reported that the bank balance stood at £7,012.05 (which includes £1,800 for capital asset purchases). The overall
profit from the Fayre and fundraising events was £2,848.21. Whilst the Fayre had free banking with the NatWest, Claire would look at
the options for interest-paying savings accounts.
4.Election of officers and committee.
David Lowes had decided to stand down from the committee but had offered to help on Fayre days and at fundraising events, as required.
Thanks would be conveyed to David for all his help.
Jane and Laurence Devonshire offered to join the committee and were extended a warm welcome.
Pavanne Hawkes might also be interested in joining the committee and would be notified of the details of the next meeting.
Jim and Carole Campbell would not be able to join the committee but Carole had offered to assist with the Fayre publicity and Jim had
offered to help on Fayre days and at fundraising events, as required.
Angus Cottey would contact David Taylor with regard to the website promotion.
Ken Botfield proposed and Mary Stanbury seconded that the existing committee be re-elected. Mary Stanbury then took the chair for
the election of officers. Claire Goodwin proposed and Mary Stanbury seconded Gerald Manning as Chairman. Gerald accepted and Mary
thanked Gerald for being an excellent chairman. Ken Botfield proposed and Simon Howard seconded Vic Loose as Vice Chair. Vic Loose
proposed and Ken Botfield seconded Claire Goodwin as Treasurer. Doreen Jenkins proposed and Mary Stanbury seconded Gill Manning as
