Witheridge Parish Hall Management Trustees Chairmans Report July 2010
The last twelve months have seen continued refurbishment work on the hall to ensure it remains fit for purpose. The main hall and the entrance lobby have been redecorated,
and the windows in the main hall have had new metal curtain rails fitted. Also completed have been issues with the drains in the disabled toilet, and the water heater in
the kitchen has been fitted with a manual override switch.
Plans for work to begin on the kitchen refurbishment will be discussed and I hope resolved at the main meeting following immediately after the AGM. This work involves adding
additional tiles to the wall behind the cooker to accommodate a new cooker, purchasing a new aluminium table, and then decorating the kitchen. At the same time the fire door
needs a new hinge. When work on the kitchen has been completed we need to arrange for the professional cleaning of both the kitchen and hall floors.
The shed has been cleared thanks to the sterling work of Kay Woollacott. Items that were not required have been disposed of and the proceeds have been placed in Hall funds.
At the meeting following the AGM on Thursday 23 rd July 2010, the trustees of the Parish Hall Management Committee was asked to vote according to the wishes of their respective
according to their respective village groups on the question:
"Should we support the proposed feasibility study into the proposed plans put forward by the Task Group, or should we proceed with seeking funds to rebuild the hall on the current
site in North Street?"
By 12 votes to seven, with three abstentions, the Trustees voted not to support the feasibility study, but to start a fund to raise money for a new Parish Hall to be based on the
existing site in North Street.
The Fund raising will be launched on Saturday 6th November with a Grand Sale and Auction to be held in the Parish Hall, doors open at 2 pm.
We are looking for items for sale and Auction. To donate items please contact Gillian Knight 01884 860837
