Bexley Leisure Centers host Easter mid-season activities for children

Bexley Leisure Centers is running food-funded activities and spaces for children this April semester.

Koala Klubs Holiday Camps are coming to both Sidcup Leisure Center and Crook Log Leisure Center after a mid-term trial in February at Erith Leisure Centre.

The camps aim to encourage children to be more active during school holidays, to eat healthier and to increase their knowledge of health and nutrition.

The program offers free holiday activities including a delicious hot meal for eligible children – as part of the free school meals benefit.

School holidays can be a particularly difficult time for some families due to rising costs – such as food and childcare – combined with reduced incomes that can prevent children from getting proper childcare.

Organizers say this program is designed to directly address this issue and ensure that children and families receive the support they need.

Participants will participate in various sports and enrichment activities as well as a minimum of one healthy meal per day during the course.

Lee Clark, Regional Director of Bexley Leisure Centres, said: “It will be a fantastic partnership with Koala Klubs to further enhance the offering of activities at Bexley Leisure Centres, increasing opportunities for the local community.

“Providing parents with a childcare option while teaching children invaluable skills is a great combination that will help residents of the Borough of Bexley.”
