Jason Momoa set for Chief of War limited series on AppleTV+
Jason Momoa continues his relationship with AppleTV+. The actor will star in, produce and write the limited series War chief to the streamer, by Deadline. The project “follows the epic and unprecedented tale of Hawaii’s unification and settlement from an indigenous perspective.” Momoa co-created the series with Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, who worked together on the Dunes the star’s next film The Last Manhunt.
War chief is a fascinating idea, as we often receive stories of colonization from the perspective of the colonizers. Especially when it comes to Hawaii, it’s a beautiful state that non-residents don’t get a chance to learn much about. Of course, if it’s like every other state in the country, native stories tend to get lost in time or take precedence behind a more palatable story.
During the last years, Momoa has taken a more active role in his projects, both as producer and screenwriter, so this is the next logical step for him. It also makes sense for him to set this up at Apple, as he currently plays in the streaming network. To seewho will return for season 3 at some point, although I don’t know when that will be, as he has an incredibly busy schedule.
As we previously reported to The rootthe Aquaman star is in talks to join the latest episode of the fast furious franchise. Although details are being kept under wraps, he could play a villain, joining notable former family villains Luke Evans, Jason Statham, Djimon Hounsou, Idris Elba and Charlize Theron.
And of course, he’ll return to rule the seas as Arthur Curry in the superhero sequel. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. A visual effects traffic jam caused Warner Bros. will change its broadcast schedule to push Aquaman 2 as of March 17, 2023.
War chief Sounds like a perfect project for the actor, but I’d love to see him get back into acting, because the few times he’s had the chance to do it, he’s been pretty funny.
