Mendota Journalist | Paw Paw Village Board Hears From Internet Company Representatives
PAW PAW – Representatives from Rise Broadband presented information for faster and more reliable broadband internet, now available in the surrounding area thanks to a grant from the government’s “Affordable Connectivity Programme”. Subsidized funding is provided by the Infrastructure Investment and Employment Act. Rise Broadband uses an underground fiber optic cable system. Residents can write a letter or email to the company explaining why they need better services. This correspondence may be emailed or dropped off at the Village Clerk’s office, [email protected] , and will be forwarded to Rise Broadband. Letters must be submitted by October 28.
Amanda Moorehead and Aubrey Marks lead the new Community Club, titled “Tribe 61353”. They intend to serve and celebrate the businesses and residents of Paw Paw while honoring the roots of the village. Similar to the old Chamber of Commerce, they will sponsor various events and activities throughout the year for our region.
On November 5 will be the craft fair, now known as “The Paw Paw Holiday Market”. They are looking for vendors with a variety of homemade items, crafts, baked goods, and produce. On December 10, they will be sponsoring the annual Christmas Walk, with a visit from Santa Claus at 4 a.m.
If you have any questions, contact Amanda at [email protected] or 619-339-6747. For more information, check out their Facebook posts at TRIBE61353.
Trunk-Or-Treat will take place on Sunday, October 30 from 3-5 p.m. at the Methodist Church. During “Trick or Treat,” adults decorate the back of their car for Halloween and stock up on candy so kids can “trick or treat” from car to car. Come sit in the Methodist parking lot. It is a good opportunity for parents and children in the countryside to have fun in the city too. Families can see all of their neighbours’ cute and spooky costumes.
The opening hours of the Halloween Village will be Monday, October 31, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The LaSalle County Health Department will be at the community center on Wednesday, October 19 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for the administration of the flu vaccine. For any questions, call 815-284-3371 ext. 2100.
