The village council will hold an upcoming meeting at the south location of Mount Prospect

In an effort to bring government closer to the people, Mount Prospect Village Council is holding its June 14 committee of the entire meeting south of Mount Prospect.

This road trip will take place from 6-8pm at the RecPlex, 420 Dempster St.

The purpose of the location is for council and village staff to inform residents of issues directly related to the south end of town.

Full committee meetings are usually times when the village council discusses specific topics of interest. No formal action is taken, although sometimes directives are given to village staff.

Discussion topics could include the recently adopted TIF district of South Mount Prospect; new development, including CloudHQ’s $2.5 billion redevelopment of United Airlines’ former global headquarters; infrastructure improvements, such as the Algonquin Shared-Use Trail; and a possible extension of the main water main.

Additionally, for residents living in nearby unincorporated areas, an update will likely be provided on the status of the Township of Elk Grove Rural Fire Protection District.

“Now will be a great time to come to a world-class recreation facility owned and operated by the Mount Prospect Park District and meet with your village board,” Hoefert said. “The meeting will be informal to allow residents to ask questions and hear about some of the exciting things happening in South Mount Prospect.”
