UPDATE Van Cortlandt Village: Fire in apartment building under control

A fire reported in the Van Cortlandt Village section of the Bronx on Thursday, April 7 has been brought under control according to the FDNY.

The FDNY tweeted that all hands were asked to respond around 2:30 p.m. to a fire in Apt D42 in the 4th floor D wing of an apartment building at 80 Van Cortlandt Park South.

According to a later FDNY Twitter update, the fire was brought under control around 2:44 p.m. Norwood News contacted the FDNY for more information on the cause as well as reported injuries.

An FDNY representative responded, saying firefighters were dispatched at 2:12 p.m., arrived on the scene at 2:17 p.m., and started the fire, which the FDNY official said was on the 7th floor of a non-fireproof multi-unit apartment building, under control at 2:43 p.m. “A firefighter was slightly injured and was transported to North Central Bronx Hospital,” the FDNY official said.
