There’s still time to nominate some incredible young people for Midlothian’s Young People Awards (MYPA) 2022.

These awards recognize the contribution of young people to their local communities. If you know a young person living, working or studying in Midlothian whose efforts deserve recognition, then nominate them!

Nominations are open in five categories which reflect the diverse positive contributions of young people to Midlothian:

– Benevolence and volunteering
– Local community
– Sport and physical activity
– Arts and culture
– Achievement in learning

There is also the Midlothian award for the best overall winner of the 5 categories.

Candidates must be between the ages of 8 and 26 at the time of their nomination.

Last year, one of the winners was Xander Graham, who won the Sports and Physical Activity category.

He appreciates his nomination which pushed him to continue his successes and declares:

“To be nominated by the residents of Midlothian for this award was very special to me as it showed that my community supports me in my aspirations and all my achievements in cycling. Since winning the award, I’ve also been nominated by my high school students and won the 2022 Sports Personality of the Year award, then won bronze at the National Cycling Championships of Mountain.

Copies of the nomination forms are available from schools, libraries and leisure centers in Midlothian.

For more information and to apply online, go to: www.midlothian.gov.uk/MYPA

Anyone wanting a paper form or having trouble accessing the online form should email [email protected]

Applications close Friday, October 14.

The winners will be announced at a special awards ceremony at Rosslyn Chapel, hosted by the Lord-Lieutenant of Midlothian, Lieutenant-Colonel Richard Callander.
